Required Equipment:  Screwdriver

Rubber gloves

Plastic bag (or other clean surface for work space)

Reference:  SOPMAN

  1. Down the NO2 Channel via the “Set Flags” button on the SiteManager screen.
  2. Locate the NO2 Lamp power supply.
  3. Turn the unit off.
  4. Before proceeding, allow the unit to cool down for 1 hour. This will ensure that you can work in safety, and also, allows the metal parts in the unit to separate more freely.
  5. It is recommended that you wear gloves for the removal of the mercury lamp. Place a gallon size plastic bag for a clean work space on the counter. (You are working with mercury that can be toxic if the lamp is broken.)
  6. Open the door on the front of the unit by the two black screws located on the right side.
  7. Inside the unit you should see a bar with two screws holding the lamp housing in place. Unscrew these and remove the bar. Lay the bar aside.
  8. Pull the housing for the lamp forward and slightly downward.
  9. Remove the glass top by unscrewing the two screws on top of the housing and gently separating the fitting just under the glass from the parts below.
  10. Next, you will see a brass, arm-like fitting that is sits on top of the lamp. Gently lift this and move to the side.
  11. Carefully lift the lamp up and out of the housing.
  12. Take the lamp over to the counter you have prepared.
  13. The lamp is screwed into a brass base and has a small brass fitting screwed on top. Note the way the lamp is aligned. There is a positive and negative charge to this lamp assembly.
  14. Replace the old lamp for one provided to you by Plano. Do not over tighten! This should be snug, but not too tight.
  15. Carefully replace the lamp back into the unit by reversing the steps above.
  16. Turn the unit on and wait unit you are assured the lamp is lit. This is indicated by the green “Lamp On” light located in the top left corner of the front of the unit.
  17.  Place the old lamp inside the packaging the new lamp was in and put this inside the gallon bag used in step #5.
  18. Return the old lamp to Plano for disposal via FED-EX Ground.
  19. See pictures below for more visual instructions.
