Purpose: The main pump can run low on oil or holes or cracks may develop in the tubing from the pump due to the vibration. This task serves to confirm that the main vacuum pump is in working condition and that all the tubing is not cracked or damaged.
Required Equipment: None

1. Check the oil level. This should stay above half full on the glass gauge located on the side of the main vacuum pump.
2. Check for oil leakage on the bench/shelf that the pump is setting on.
3. Check the tightness of all fittings.
4. If the oil level is low, add some Krytox oil.
5. You will have to down the channels and unplug the main pump.
6. Allow to cool down until you can safely work around pump.
7. Unscrew the fitting which allows you to access the oil well.
8. Using a funnel, add enough oil to bring up to the desired level.
9. Tighten all fittings and plug the pump back in.
10. Up the channels.
