5400 Download

Purpose:  Follow the steps below to download data from the 5400 instrument.

Required Equipment:  None

Reference:  SOPMAN

1. Set the data switch box to 5400.

2. Determine what the last cycle number from the previous download was.  This information should be written down in the site log.  Subtract 2 cycles.  This will be where you will begin downloading.

3. On the computer desktop, select the icon “Shortcut to RP5400” by double clicking.  This will open a HyperTerminal window.

4. On the toolbar, select Transfer.

5. Next, select “Capture text” where another small window will open with the file name listed (Ex. C:\txtfiles\OAK_RP5400_SETPTS_042204.TXT)

6. Hit the start button.  You are now ready to transfer data.

7. On the 5400 instrument, select F4“data”, F5 “more”, and then F1”Setpts.

8. Press and hold the F1 key to cycle back to the desired number from step 2.

9. Press the F4 key twice for download to transfer the data from the 5400 to the computer.  You should see the data begin transferring immediately on the computer.  Write the numbers from the beginning cycle number to the ending cycle numbers that were downloaded in your site log for future reference.

10. In the HyperTerminal program, you will need to select Transfer, Capture, and Stop.  By selecting these three you have stopped the data capture.

11. Close the HyperTerminal dialog box.

12. You can view the data captured in C:\txtfiles directory.
