Purpose: The Tekran denuder module and particulate module have
heaters that need to be checked from time to time. This procedure shows the process for checking
the integrity of the heaters.
Required Equipment:
NONE

Heat Controller Efficacy
1.
In the denuder module
there are four heat controllers (PID).
In the particulate module there are three PIDs. Observe each controller to make sure the LED
on each is working.
2.
Both the denuder
module and the particulate module have external power cables. DO NOT confuse this cable with the umbilical
from the shelter.
3.
If the controller
isn’t working check the GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) for each unit.
4.
If the GFI has
been tested and reset check the breaker in the breaker box. The breaker may look like it is OK but it
should still be shut off and then back on.
5.
The two previous
steps should have fixed the issue. If
not call
Heat Controller Programming
1.
Now that the
controllers are working, the programming needs to be checked.
2.
This can be done
with the Tekran in run mode.
3.
Find out what
heating sequence the Tekran is in and observe the controllers.
4.
The three
sequences that should be noticed are when the denuder is heating, the RPF is
heating and when the pyrolyzer is heating.
The final temperature should be noted.
5.
Other controllers
to check will be the external heater temperature, sample line temperature and
the case temperatures. For this group of
controllers the temperature is constant.
6.
If any of the
sequences or temperatures are not working call
