Replacing the Quartz Denuder

  1. Make sure a good Quartz Denuder is available.  Currently all Quartz Denuders are sent to Mactec for refurbishment then Mactec will send four clean and ready to use denuders back to the site.
  2. Open the front of the 1130 denuder module.
  3. At the bottom of the cabinet there is a heated boot covering the inlet.  Unsnap the boot and leave it hanging from the bottom of the denuder module.
  4. There is red connection on the outside of the box at the bottom that holds the denuder and the inlet together.  Loosen the red nut that is connected to the denuder and set the inlet aside.  Note:  To completely disconnect the inlet loosen the nut that hold the Teflon tubing for the zero air in place.
  5. In the 1130 denuder module there is a red connection on the left side at the top that holds the denuder and RPF together.  Loosen the red nut that is connected to the Denuder.

  1. The denuder has two tabs at the top that hold it in place.  To remove the denuder carefully push up on the denuder and then turn it 90 degrees to clear the tabs.
  2. Carefully pull the denuder straight down and out of the 1130 denuder module.
  3. Install the new denuder in reverse order by slowly pushing it up through the 1130 denuder module.  Push it up far enough so that the two tabs clear the holder then turn it 90 degrees and pull it back down to lock it into place.
  4. Reconnect the denuder to RPF connection.
  5. Reconnect the denuder to inlet connection.
  6. Reattach the Inlet Heating boot.  If the boot is hard to snap in place grease the snaps with Krytox grease.
  7. The new RPF installation is now complete.
  8. When the denuder has been changed put the Tekran back into RUN mode.
  9. After the Tekran has collected two to three samples or after 10 to 15 minutes of run time push the “Desorb Now” button on the hand controller.  This will take the Tekran through a usual heating cycle to help clean the new denuder.
