inlets and sub-assemblies

The Sharp Cut Cyclone (SCC
PM-2.5) Inlet

Disassembling and cleaning
the PM-10 inlet
- Carefully remove the Rain
Jar and set it aside.
- Unscrew the Collector
Assembly from Acceleration Assembly and set it aside.
- Set the Acceleration
Assembly upside-down on its top plate and remove the 4 pan head screws on
the bottom side. Note: It may be necessary to use pliers on the
stand-offs to keep them from turning.
- Lift the Acceleration
Assembly off the top plates.
- Lift the lower plate up and
carefully remove the insect screen.

- If compressed air is
available, blow off all of the inlet parts (outside).
- Fill the plastic container
with about 1” of distilled water.
- Wash the insect screen, top
& lower plates with the paint brush, shake or blow dry and, if
possible, set in the sun to dry.
- Dip the acceleration
assembly in the distilled water and use the paint brush to scrub the
inside clean.
- Use the squirt bottle to
rinse the acceleration assembly, pay particular attention to the area
around the acceleration nozzle on the inside. Rinse several times.

- Clean the inside of the
acceleration nozzle by pushing a moist piece of cloth or Kimwipe through
it.
- Shake or blow and wipe dry
and set out in the sun to completely dry.
- With a moist Kimwipe, wipe
out the rain jar and set out to dry.
Cleaning the Collector
Assembly
- Squirt distilled water onto
the collector plate and through vent tubes.
Dirt may cake up on the
collector plate in this area, use a #2 pencil eraser to scrub it off.

- Use the small soft bristle
brush to clean the collector plate and in and around the vent tubes.
- Rinse thoroughly, several
times with the squirt bottle and distilled water.
- Clean the inside of the
Vent Tubes by running a piece of moist cloth or Kimwipe through them.
- On the bottom side of the
collector assembly, squirt distilled water inside the assembly and use a
cloth or Kimwipe to wipe it out.

- Wipe the rain jar cover
with a moist cloth or Kimwipe.
- Shake, blow & wipe dry
all the PM-10 parts and set in the sun to thoroughly dry while you clean
the SCC.
Cleaning the SCC
- Disassemble the SCC by
pulling off the Transfer Tube, unscrewing the Top Cap and the Empting Cup
from the Chamber.
- Empty the plastic tub,
clean, rinse and dry. Then fill with fresh distilled water.
- Put the transfer tube, top
cap and empting cup in the water and clean using the brushes.
- Rinse by squirting with
distilled water, shake, blow and wipe and set in the sun to dry.
- On the chamber where the
top cap screws on (the cone area) use a moist cloth to wipe clean and run
the cloth through the hole.
- Squirt with distilled water
to rinse.
- Use a pipe cleaner (folded
to multiple thickness, if necessary) to clean in the orifices of the
chamber assembly.
- Squirt with distilled water
and rinse well.
- Shake, blow & wipe dry
all the SCC parts and set in the sun to thoroughly dry
Check all the O-rings
Check
all the O-rings on the PM-10 and SCC inlets. Make sure that they are not cut,
nicked, chipped, deformed, etc. Replace any that are. Put a thin coating of
Krytox grease on all the O-rings to assure a good seal when the inlets are
reassembled. Do not grease any threads! If you have to grease threads
to get a good seal, something else is wrong !!! The O-rings should do all the
sealing not the threads.
Reassembling the inlets
PM-10
Inlet
- Reassemble the acceleration
assembly by reattaching the top and lower plates with the insect screen.
- Screw the collector
assembly to the acceleration assembly.
- Screw the rain jar to the
collector assembly.
SCC

- Screw on the Top Cap, and
then press on the Transfer Tube.
- Screw on the Emptying Cup.
Putting the Inlets back on
the TEOM
- Attach the PM-10 inlet to
the SCC inlet

the TEOM inlet tube.
- In TrackOps close the “TEOM
