Purpose: This procedure is to determine whether the TEOM vacuum pump is still in good working condition and will give the adequate vacuum for the TEOM to work properly.
Required Equipment: Flow Audit Adapter
Reference: Section 3: Service Procedures Page 3-7.
1. Down the TOEM channels with “set flag" option under the “tools” tab on SiteManager.
2. This test is done during regular running conditions.
3. Remove the regular TEOM filter from the TEOM mass transducer.
4. Remove the PM10 head and PM2.5 sharp cut cyclone from the inlet tube.
5. Install the flow audit adapter on the inlet with the flow valve open.
6. On the main screen of the TEOM control unit, use the up and down arrows to scroll down until the main and auxiliary flows are displayed.
7. Take note of the flows.
8. Slowly close the flow audit adapter valve on the inlet until the flows start to decrease.
9. Note the filter percentage on the TEOM display.
10. If the flows decrease at a filter percentage that is less than 90% then the pump should be replaced.
11. If the test shows that the pump should be replaced contact Plano.
12. If the test is good and doesn’t meet the pump replacement criteria, replace the regular TEOM filter in the mass transducer.
13. Close the Scheduled Maintenance ticket in Track-Ops with the results of the test recorded.
14. Up the TEOM channel when data returns to reasonable ambient conditions.
