Standard Operating Procedure

for Par Sensor Baseline Check

 

 

Purpose:    To verify normal operation (incl. data file transfer) and integrity of monitoring equipment, and to collect filter samples.

 

Required Tools:                 

 

Available at site:                                Air duster, DI water, Kim wipes, Latex gloves, Q-tips

                                                Flat-head screwdriver

                                                Un-sampled Teflon filters (37mm)

                                                Teflon tweezers

                                                Traveler sheet for filter samples

                                                Ziploc bags with Petri slides (for sampled filters)                          

 

Log Displayed Values:

ARA operates a web-based logging system designed for local operator’s communication with central management called TrackOps, which is password protected.  The login page is at www.atmospheric-research.com/trackops/login.aspx. Actions related to the the meteorological sensors can be logged under corresponding “tickets”.

All other meteorological sensors

                                                              i.      Check displayed values for plausibility.

                                                            ii.      Check sound of propeller anemometer (as OK for bearings).

                                                          iii.      Check fan pushing air out from aspirated T/RH cross-arm.

                                                          iv.      Inspect cables and sensors for signs of degradation (weather, animal droppings, etc).  Make sure the PAR sensor is clean.  If residue is visible on opaque diffuser disk, wipe clean gently with DI water moistened Kimwipe.

                                                            v.      Check values displayed in DAS window open on laptop screen.

                                                          vi.      Cover sensor with original cap and confirm zero reading.
