NH3 System: Install New Balston Filter

 

Purpose:  This assures a clean airflow for NH3 analysis

 

Required Equipment:  Large Balston filter

                                            Gloves

                                            Ziplock bag

                                            9/16ths wrench

 

Reference:  SOPMAN

 

  1. Located on the roof inside the inlet box for the NH3 system, the balston filter is just above the denuder.
  2. This should be done when there is not a denuder in the system. If one is present, carefully remove the denuder wearing clean gloves and cap. Place this in a plastic bag or the packing that the denuder arrived in.
  3. Unscrew and remove the old filter; replace with a clean one.
  4. Replace the denuder and close the inlet box.
