FRM Pump Replacement

Purpose:  This assures that the vacuum on the FRM is always good.

Required Equipment:  Vacuum Pump

Reference:  SOPMAN

  1. When the Scheduled Maintenance ticket is initiated open a Supplies ticket for a replacement pump.
  2. Once the pump has been received plug it in using a computer power cord to make sure it wasn’t damaged in shipping.
  3. The FRM is a daily sampler and the pump replacement has to be done quickly.  The down time for the FRM has to be less that one hour or the current sample isn’t valid.
  4. Put the FRM in audit mode so that the filter doesn’t have to be changed and so that the FRM will display the down time.
  5. Remove the tubing on the old pump and install them on the new pump.
  6. Plug the new pump into the same location where the old pump was removed.
  7. Take note of the down time timer display.
  8. Put the FRM back into run mode.
  9. Check the flow on the FRM display to make sure that it is running at the normal 16.7 LPM flow.
  10. If the flow is good then close the Scheduled Maintenance ticket with the time and date of the changeout and the down time of the instrument.  Include the flows on the instrument if available.
