Aethalometer/Nephalometer Inlet flow check

 

Purpose:  Verifies that the airflow used in the calculation of data for the Aethalometer and the Nephalometer represents flow entirely from the inlet.

 

 

Required Equipment:  Bios with High Cell

                                          Aeth/Neth inlet connection

 

Reference: SOPMAN

 

1.              Down the AETH and NETH with the set flags function on the site analyzer screen.

2.              Equip the BIOS with the “High Cell”, rubber tubing, and AETH/NEPH inlet adapter (1” rubber tubing with connecter to the 3/8” bios tubing).

3.              Record temperature with Psychrometer and pressure from site manager (BP).

4.              Remove Sharp-cut cyclone from the AETH/NEPH inlet.

5.              Connect the Bios tubing from the “Outlet” side of the cell to the AETH/NEPH inlet.

6.              Hold down the select and enter buttons on the BIOS for 2-3 seconds and release to begin reading.

7.              Record 10 step VAve from Bios three (3) times and average the results.

8.              Remove the bios connecter and replace the Sharp-cut cyclone to the inlet.

9.              Enter data into a new QA Result in SiteManager.  The Data Product is AETH BC and the QA Check Type is AETH/NEPH Inlet Flow.

10.           Up the AETH and NETH from the Set Flags.
