Aethalometer Download
Purpose: This task saves the data from the Aethalometer onto
the computer.
Required Equipment: All that is needed is the 3 ½” floppy disk from the
Aethalometer. The AETH data is stored on
a floppy disc located inside the AETH accessed by the door on the front of the
instrument.
Reference: SOPMAN
- Remove the floppy disc from
the Aeth and insert in the computer.
- On the computer desktop,
select the icon “My computer” by double clicking to open this window.
- Click and open the “3 ½ Floppy
(A): where you will see the data stored. (Ex: BC041004 or MF041004) This
represents each day’s worth of data. You will copy the files for each day
since the last download. DO NOT COPY THE CURRENT DAY’S FILES.
- Open another window for the
destination of these files which will be “Aeth” in txtfiles. There
may be an icon on the computer desktop marked “Shortcut to AETH” or you
will have to choose “My computer”, then “C://”, next “txtfiles”, and then
“Aeth”.
- With both windows open, you
are ready to copy the files from the floppy to the “Aeth” folder. Click on
the first “BC” file to be copied and hold the shift key down while
clicking on the last “BC” file to be copied making certain you leave the
file for the current day. With all the selected files highlighted, click
and drag to the destination file and drop in. Do this for the “MF” files,
too. (do not be alarmed if there are not as many “MF” files as “BC”
files.)
- After you have copied all
the “BC” and “MF” files in this manner (and you are sure they have been
saved in the Aeth folder), delete them from the floppy disc.
- Return the disc to the
Aeth.
